CQC Outcome 8

Our healthcare clients trust Chemex to keep them Outcome 8 Compliant – whether they are providing Adult Social Care or operating fleets of emergency ambulances. Now that these operations come under the aegis of the CQC providers need to stay compliant to avoid fines, damage to their reputation or – ultimately – closure.

The Chemex Hygiene Control Programme and associated training in conjunction with the relevant Clinical Practice Guidelines will help you deliver Outcome 8. Chemex is also the only hygiene company to have its own independent DIPC to make sure we can help you continue to comply with Outcome 8.

Essential Standards of Quality and Safety

The essential standards of quality and safety consist of 28 regulations (and associated outcomes) that are set out in two pieces of legislation: the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009.

For each regulation, there is an associated outcome – the experiences the CQC expects people to have as a result of the care they receive.

When they check providers’ compliance with the essential standards, they focus on the 16 regulations (out of the 28) that come within Part 4 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 – these are the ones that most directly relate to the quality and safety of care.

Providers must have evidence that they meet the outcomes.

Chemex has the products, the systems and the experience to ensure you comply with Outcome 8.

Outcome 8 can be summarised very simply. The CQC will expect you to demonstrate:

  • That you and your people are aware of the importance of cleanliness and infection control
  • That they have been trained in the role they can play in ensuring service users experience care in a clean environment, and are protected from acquiring infections
  • That they are able to use this knowledge to strive to continually improve standards of cleanliness and infection control
  • That they have the correct tools at their disposal to accomplish this – be it chemicals, soaps, paper, gloves – and understanding what to use when.

The Chemex Hygiene Control Programme and associated training in conjunction with the relevant Clinical Practice Guidelines will help you deliver Outcome 8.
